I have met many people who don’t believe in God just because they think God never grant their wishes. I do believe in God and thus always try to let others know that try to make God as your friend, mom, dad or any relative who gives you unconditional love but people generally think that God is someone who is there to grant all their wishes no matter they are good for them or not.
Your mom, dad, friend or spouse would never allow you to do things which are bad for you and it goes same with God. He would always give you people, things or situations in your life which will make you a better person.
Thus I want to share something with my readers who always wonder why God don’t give you whatever you want in life. This poem I learned in my childhood and yet I feel very positive whenever I remember this poem.
I asked God for strength,
that I might achieve.
I was made weak,
that I might learn humbly to obey.
I asked for health,
that I might do greater things.
I was given infirmity,
that I might do better things.
I asked for riches,
that I might be happy.
I was given poverty,
that I might be wise.
I asked for power,
that I might have the praise of men.
I was given weakness,
that I might feel the need of God.
I asked for all things,
that I might enjoy life.
I was given life,
that I might enjoy all things.
I got nothing that I asked for,
but everything that I had hoped for.
Almost despite myself,
my unspoken prayers were answered.
I am among all men,
most richly blessed.
